Skamania County offers the best of both worlds. It is located in one of the most scenic areas in the country, yet close to the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area, and all of the conveniences offered by major cities.
The Skamania County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) is a private non-profit organization, located in Stevenson, Washington, in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. The goals of the SCEDC are designed to assist in the retention and expansion of existing businesses and industries, to encourage capital investment for new business development, and to promote public policies to facilitate orderly economic development in Skamania County. The SCEDC:

Provides business counseling and business planning assistance to new and existing businesses. |

Coordinates community strategic planning and provides assistance with contract and grant applications for economic development and activities and programs. |

Sponsors and hosts small business training workshops. |

Operates a Business Resource Center. |

Manages the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area's Washington Investment Fund (WIF), providing business development and public infrastructure loans. |

Operates a micro-loan program. |

Represents the interest of local businesses by promoting public policies that encourage economic development. |
